About Our Practice

Our History
In 1981, Dr. David Smith opened the doors of his beloved practice in Caribou. In 2017, Dr. Meagan Thompson joined Dr. Smith and they enjoyed working side by side in an endearing relationship for several years. Dr. Smith transitioned his practice to Dr. Thompson in 2019 to what is now Northern Maine Dental.
In 2021, Dr. Smith retired on his 73rd birthday, after 47 years in practice, and Caribou native and friend, Dr. Kjetil Rossignol joined the team. We relocated to our new space on the Access Highway in October of 2021 and look forward to serving you in our inviting space for years to come.
Meet Our Dentists
Dr. Meagan Thompson
Dr. Thompson earned her B.A. in psychology with a minor in pre-dental studies from the University of Maine. Dr. Thompson is thrilled to have returned to her hometown to serve the community so near and dear to her heart. She and her husband, Jon, live in Caribou with their son, Owen, and big goofy berner, Gus.
Dr. Kjetil Rossignol
“Dr. Teal” is a Caribou native, who completed his undergraduate studies and dental education at the University of New England in Biddeford and Portland. From there, he completed a General Practice Residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he focused on surgery, trauma, and management of medically complex patients. He is eager to provide comprehensive dental treatment to an area that has long been suffering from a lack of access to oral care.
Dr. Teal’s interests include playing music, cooking, riling up his niece and nephews, and spending time in the outdoors photographing and watching birds.
